Accomplishments

  • July 12, 1999 – Carbon County Groundwater Guardians was founded by Leroy Skinner and Frank Waksmunski.July 1999 – Carbon County Environmental Education Center (CCEEC) partnership was established. August 1999 – Wilkes University, Center for Environmental Quality partnership was established.
  • September 23, 1999 – “Groundwater Guardian Team” status was received from The Groundwater Foundation, Lincoln, NE.
  • November 1, 2000 – “2000 Conservation Organization of the Year” award was received from the Carbon County Conservation District.
  • November 2000 – “Groundwater Guardian Community” designation was received from The Groundwater Foundation.
  • January 25, 2001 – Nominated by the Carbon County Conservation District for the “Governor’s Awards for Watershed Stewardship.” CCGG is honored to have been nominated, even though we were not successful.
  • July 31, 2001 – Grant of $7,500 from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development was received.
  • April 17, 2002 – GROUNDWATER GUARDIANS RECIPIENT OF GOVERNOR’S AWARD
  • November, 2002 – Frank Waksmunski elected to a three year term to The Groundwater Foundation Council.
  • August 2002 – 501(c)(3) was obtained.
  • November 2005 – Frank Waksmunski elected to a second three year term to The Groundwater Foundation Council.
  • November 2009 – “Groundwater Guardian Community” designation was received from The Groundwater Foundation. This designation has been received for ten consecutive years. (2000 – 2009)
