Frank Waksmunski, past president of the Carbon County Groundwater Guardians, oversees the work of some of the youngsters who attended the Children’s Groundwater Festival Saturday at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center. Children, along with their parents, visited seven stations both indoors and outside, to learn the importance of conserving water. The event was co-sponsored by the Groundwater Guardians and the environmental center.

What happens when you flush?
Jill DeSousa, an intern at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center, shows Jonathan Webber of Lansford how a standard septic system operates. Jill’s station was one of seven set up at the center to provide hands-on learning to show the youngsters and their parents the importance of protecting our water resources.
