Putting the Brakes on Natural Gas Fracking

Fracking, the process of blasting deep rock strata to release methane that can then be pumped to the surface and sold as natural gas, is one of the ugliest innovations the energy industry has come up with. And unlike the ugliness of the Alberta Tar Sands, fracking takes place in pristine rural farmlands of the Appalachian Mountain region, such as Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

If fracking is not stopped, we won’t have to worry about climate change, cancer research, birth defects, carbon emmisions, loss of habitat, the current rapid extinction of species, human rights, flossing your teeth, when the next IPOD will be released etc because there will be no people left on the planet. People say “save the planet” , I say “save the people” or “save the planet FROM the people”. Once the people are gone, the earth will survive, and in another hundred billion years it might be pristine again. But there won’t be any people to enjoy it–maybe that’s a good thing…
18th Century Cree saying ` only when that last fish has been caught, the last stream is run dry and the last tree is gone will we realize we cannot eat money…..
The people of our country need to stand up together and demand that water protection laws be reinstated–thanks to George Bush and Dick Cheaney, the US water protection laws were “fracked” during Dubya’s last term….God help us organize against this fracking cancer that will destroy our country and quile possibly the earth…..
