The Carbon County Department of Solid Waste collected over 15,600 pounds of electronics during its biannual two-day electronics recycling event held on April 13 and 14 in Lehighton.
Over 700 items were collected from Carbon County residents and businesses. These included computer monitors, printers, keyboards, CPU units, VCRs, radios, copiers, scanners, typewriters, telephones and circuit boards.
All components were dismantled, reused and recycled in a safe environmental manner through A-Plus Industries.
Since the first collection event in 2005, Carbon County has recycled over 66,120 pounds or 33.06 tons of electronic items.
In addition, A-Plus Industries has saved the county and its residents over $19,800 by accepting these items at no charge.
