Today’s story about a new report by the federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry about a link between the environment and a rare cancer in this area raises many, many questions.
– How could they claim there was no way to make a link just six weeks ago, and now claim the data “strongly suggests” a link and claims there is “significant evidence”?
– Why was this report posted on the American Society of Hematology Web site and not presented to our communities first?
– What does the acknowledgment of a link mean? Will someone come through with new funds to examine and/or clean the environment? Will someone make reparations to the people and families affected?
We’ll stay on top of this story and we’re planning an a follow-up story in tomorrow’s edition of The REPUBLICAN & Herald.
